Tofu in USA

Now I’m cutting tofu…

おとうふを切ってます

A traditional way to cut tofu in Japan

とうふを切る時の日本の伝統的なやりかた

Cut lines   Knife

切った線 刀

..This tofu is TOO LARGE to cut!!

・・このとうふ大きすぎて切れないよ!!

Do American people have large hands???

アメリカ人の手って、でかいの??

No. We just don’t cut tofu in such a way.

いえ。ただそんな方法でとうふを切らないだけです。

In Japan stores sell half size tofu packets.

日本では半分サイズの豆腐パックを売ってます。

切る(kee-ru) is a kanji and hiragana moji that means “cut”.

「切る」は切るを意味する漢字とひらがな文字です。

I lived in a small town in Japan as a town clerk until middle age with no experience living abroad at all. My major at university was Japanese literature. An innocent Japanese has come to America!!
