What kind of bread do you like?

White, wholegrain, sourdough, Rye …

!??   … Rye, please.

They always make us choose!

Don’t they have confidence in their cooking?

Yes! Because each kind of bread has quite different taste!!

In Japan, you are particular about the kind of rice, too.

Yea, I heard there are about 500 varieties of japonica rice in Japan.

We can choose the variety to cook at home, but not at restaurants.

Popular ones are Koshihikari, Hitomebore, Akitakomachi, Sasanishiki, Yumepirika…

I got it!!

Sandwich for American is Sushi for strict Sushi chefs!!

Rice is much more important than sushi topping!!

Something different…

(hah ah?) are katakana mojis for “Huh?”

I lived in a small town in Japan as a town clerk until middle age with no experience living abroad at all. My major at university was Japanese literature. An innocent Japanese has come to America!!
